3D3 Solutions Introduces New HDI Advance 3D Scanning Systems

Following the launch of FlexScan3D 3.0, we are also re-launching our HDI 3D scanners with Advance R1 and R2 systems. The new HDI Advance Scanners come with a new hardware design that is optimized for a better scanning experience. The biggest change is the cameras. We have gone from using USB CMOS cameras to FireWire based CCD cameras. With extensive testing we've found that the HDI Advance R2 (2MP camera system) scans with far less noise, at higher accuracy and performs almost 5x faster than the previous HDI Advance SE (5MP camera system) configuration. We have found that while the previous systems were low cost that produced good data, the new systems are still affordable but the results are much better.

Other improvements include:

• Preset camera positions and angles to maximize scanner coverage and accuracy
• Faster scanning speed, lower scan noise, and improved accuracy
• Stable carbon fiber chassis
• Built in heat shield
• Smaller and lighter with a more professional look

3D Scanning Tip: Selecting the Best Lens for Desired Field of View
It is important to determine if your 3D scanner's hardware configuration is suited for the size of the object you are looking to scan. For optical 3D scanners including white light 3D scanners, the camera and projector lenses determine a scanner’s field of view. Field of view (FOV) is the observable area that an optical instrument is able to capture from a specific distance. This article discusses some of the factors you should be aware of when selecting lenses for a desired field of view.
